Lesser-Known Freedom Fighters: Unsung Heroes of India's Independence.

India's struggle for freedom was a team effort propelled by the bravery and selflessness of innumerable people. Even while we frequently honor well-known individuals like Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi, there are a number of unsung heroes whose efforts should also be acknowledged. Masterda Surya Sen

Durgawati Devi
3. Durgawati Devi: Durgawati Devi was a Bihari freedom fighter who took an active part in the Quit India Movement. Her steadfast dedication to the cause continues to be an inspiration.


Pritilata Waddedar
4. Pritilata Waddedar: In Chittagong, Pritilata, a revolutionary from Bengal, headed an assault on the Pahartali European Club. Her bravery and selflessness are inscribed in the history of India's liberation movement.



Ttiot Singh Syiem
5. Tirot Sing Syiem: In the Khasi Hills of modern-day Meghalaya, Tirot Sing Syiem was a Khasi chieftain who opposed British expansion. His memory endures as a representation of Native American resistance.


Hemu Kalani

6. Hemu Kalani:
At the age of 21, the British detained and killed the young freedom fighter. His selflessness in serving the country is exemplified by his sacrifice.



Pingali Venkayya
7. Pingali Venkayya: Oftentimes disregarded, Pingali Venkayya is the guy responsible for creating the Indian tricolor flag. With the spinning wheel (charkha) in its core, his design represented India's independence and cohesion.



Tikendrajit Singh
8. Bir Tikendrajit Singh: In 1891, the Manipuri prince led the Anglo-Manipur War against the British. Generations have been inspired by his bravery and tenacity.

Matangini Hazra
9. Matangini Hazra: Often referred to as "Old Lady Gandhi" or "Gandhi Buri," Matangini Hazra bravely took part in the Quit India Movement. She was leading a parade with the national flag in hand when she was shot and killed by British police.




Aruna Asaf Al
10. Aruna Asaf Ali: Aruna Asaf Ali rose to fame among the Indian public at the age of 33 and became notorious within the British Raj camp. During the Quit India Movement in 1942, she raised the Indian National Congress flag at the Gowalia Tank Maidan in Bombay.
